Job Description

The Traffic Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing traffic control activities related to projects taking place on roads, highways, and construction sites. This role involves ensuring the safety of workers, the public, and traffic flow while plumbing works are being conducted. The Traffic Control Supervisor coordinates with teams, project managers, and relevant authorities to implement effective traffic control measures in compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Job Description:
  • Lead a team of traffic control personnel, including flaggers, to ensure effective traffic management and safety compliance.
  • Develop traffic control plans in accordance with regulations and project requirements. This includes analyzing traffic patterns, identifying potential hazards, and determining appropriate control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing traffic control and safety standards, such as MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices).
  • Oversee the maintenance and deployment of traffic control equipment, such as cones, signs, barricades, and signal devices.
  • Coordinate with project managers, construction crews, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to schedule and implement traffic control measures effectively.
  • Provide training to traffic control personnel on safety procedures, equipment operation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce safety protocols and regulations to minimize accidents and ensure the well-being of workers and the public.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, accidents, or incidents affecting traffic flow, implementing appropriate measures to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities, including incident reports, equipment inventory, and compliance documentation. 
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess the effectiveness of traffic control measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Address inquiries, complaints, and requests from the public regarding traffic issues, providing courteous and professional assistance. 
  • Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for traffic control operations ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising safety or quality.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Work Experience Requirements:
  • Previous experience in traffic control or related field, with knowledge of plumbing industry operations preferred. 
  • TCS Certification is required.
  • Strong understanding of traffic regulations, safety standards, and best practices. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements. 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving is required. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Lifting maximum weight 80lbs.
  • This position will work in outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
