Job Description

GAMA-1 is seeking a remote Technical Writer with experience using Jira and Confluence o join our team of qualified individuals supporting the NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) initiatives. Eligible candidates must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan and be customer-support focused. This position is responsible for supporting the project during the entire life cycle of the assigned projects. In this role you will create and maintain documentation for software development lifecycle,

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Gather, analyze, translate and compose technical information into clear, readable documents.
• Compose and edit technical and user documentation using Jira and Confluence
• Coordinate and support agile and technical teams capture infrastructure and software development tasks, documents, etc.
• Write policies, procedures, workflows, and manuals.
• Develop diagrams and charts for improved presentation and understanding of system components.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Demonstrated experience using Jira for project and software development documentation
• Ability to possess a thorough understanding of the scientific and technical subject matter, documentation content, and requirements.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic understanding of DevOps methodology and continuous integration & continuous delivery (CI/CD) concepts and practices
• Jira, Confluence, or Scrum certification
• Responsible for following the ISO process for technical literature from creation to publication of ISO Documentation
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust.

DESIRED SKILLS

• Teamwork, strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Visio.
• Experience with system or software development.
• Experience with Agile life cycle process.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in English, computer science, or related field.
6+ years of technical writing experience
