Join us at The Salt Shed, Chicago's best new music venue! On our venue team, Security plays a very important role in providing a safe and memorable concert experience for our guests. Whether checking bags, manning an access point, or securing the stage, a successful security team is one that has the safety of our guests as their #1 concern. Our Security team will focus on providing a friendly and safe guest experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Assist in employee and guest ingress process to check bags, operate walkthrough metal detector and wand
• Roam in venue and/or venue perimeter to ensure all access points are secure
• Control access points and check credentials 
• Guiding guests within the venue (restrooms, merch, VIP areas, ADA areas, etc)
• Assist guests that need medical assistance by calling for EMT services on radio or guiding guests to First Aid area
• Answering questions and guiding guests outside the venue and monitoring ADA and bike parking areas
• In the event of an emergency, provide direction to guests and staff for a smooth evacuation if needed
• Will monitor guest behavior to ensure safe crowd management and address any inappropriate or unacceptable behavior in a timely manner.
• Jump in where needed to facilitate a smooth ingress and egress, handle difficult guest situations or ejections, etc.
• Proactively identify an areas of safety or security concern and address or notify management for further action
• Assist management with guest and staff compliance of all venue policies and procedures
• Writing reports of major incidents witnessed during event to assist management in thorough record keeping
• Resolving guest issues with excellent customer service, and identifying when it’s best to escalate to management for extra assistance
• May be asked to work shifts at other locations owned by 16 On Center, including other music venues and bars.
• Be an advocate for the venue’s sustainability initiatives and inform guests of the ways they can help us to recycle, compost and reduce waste
• Performing other tasks or projects as assigned by management
• Pay: $20/hr

Skills

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous music venue/events experience in Security strongly preferred
• Current PERC license preferred
• Skill in interpersonal communication and teamwork
• You might be asked to help in many different areas - Checking a bag, operating a mag or wand, standing in a barricade, controlling access to backstage areas, escorting an artist, or dealing with a difficult guest. You’re happy to be flexible and proactively jump in where you’re needed most.
• Friendly, approachable demeanor
• Flexible schedule and an ability to work late hours 
• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded manner. Skilled in de-escalating a difficult situation.
• Position requires ability to stand for long periods and work in a loud indoor or outdoor environment
• Willingness to work shifts at other 16 On Center venues and bars
• Acceptance of all cultures, music and art forms.
