Position overview
Position title: Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology Pre-six Lecturer
Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $10,186 - $11,131 (based on salary points 7-10). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.

Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring units instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.

Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position Description

The Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers. We seek outstanding candidates with teaching experience in the following specialties within biology: cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, development, neuroscience, human physiology, microbiology, and in particular, laboratory instruction.

Applicants with University-level teaching experience, including TA experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please be aware that current University of California students cannot be appointed as lecturers. Appointments of UC students are restricted to student titles.

Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • M.A./M.S. degree, or a B.A./B.S. degree and 4 years' laboratory research experience in an academic and/or professional environment. Degree and research experience must be in biology or a related field. Equivalent foreign degrees will be considered.
  • Demonstrated record of college-level teaching experience.
