Colleges of Fenway, Inc. (COF) is seeking an individual to join the Center for Performing Arts as Hip Hop Dance Instructor/Choreographer for the 2024-2025 academic year. The mission of the Colleges of the Fenway is to add value to student academic and social life while seeking innovative methods of investing in new services and containing the costs of higher education. The Hip Hop Instructor/ Choreographer reports to the COF Dance Director and works with students who attend each of the member institutions to create original works for the end of semester dance concert. Member institutions include Emmanuel College, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Simmons University, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Specific Responsibilities - Choreograph two sections of Hip Hop per semester, beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced.
- Teach choreography to adult participants (students, alumni, and staff from COF member institutions.) Each section meets once a week for 75 minutes, with approximately 15-20 students each.
- Choose costumes in a timely manner and communicate sizing info to students and Dance Coordinator for purchase.
- Attend tech rehearsals, dress rehearsal, and at least 2 of the 3 concerts.
- Assist the Director of Dance and Dance Coordinator with concert production duties such as box office or front of house.
Knowledge and Skills - Ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment for student dancers.
- Ability to collaborate with and choreograph for student groups with a wide range of skills and abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with participants and professional staff.
- Knowledge of hip-hop culture and strong skills in preparing dance for stage performance.
Requirements: - BA in Dance or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years' experience teaching/choreographing at the high school or college level.

The COF campuses are spread over 1 square mile in the middle of the Fenway neighborhood of Boston. Performing Arts Instructors will teach classes on member campuses and adjacent performing arts facilities at least once a week; the successful candidate will need to be able to travel comfortably to, from, and among the campuses; move and/or carry equipment and supplies with loads up to 50 pounds to those events.
$1,850/section ($3700 total)
Schedule: 2 sections/week, September-December. 2.5 teaching hours total (non-credited courses)
