Graphic Designer I Location Logan, UT (Hillcrest area) : Overview: The College of Engineering at Utah State University seeks an entry level or early career graphic designer to join our communications and marketing team. This position is part of the Office of the Dean and serves five academic departments, several research centers, and all other units within the college. The individual in this dynamic role develops assets that support communication and branding needs in areas of web, social media, research, recruiting, retention, student support services, special events, alumni relations, philanthropy initiatives, and more. Typical projects include recruiting campaigns, brochures, magazines, newsletters, web pages, digital signage, research proposals, and occasional video graphics, special event materials, etc. The work is extremely rewarding, and the environment is supportive and inclusive. Responsibilities:
- Create content for recruiting, webpages, social media, and college communications
- Assist in developing media kits for press announcements and special events
- Develop and manage visual assets for academics, research, student services
- Develop graphics to support research grant proposals and philanthropic initiatives
Qualifications: Minimum Qualification: - Bachelor's degree in graphic design, art, or related discipline; OR four years or related experience; OR an equivalent of combined education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Understanding of the principles of graphic design
- Understanding of typography and experience with layout
- Professional-level knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
- Illustration skills are highly preferred
- Current online portfolio
- Good writing and communication skills
- Self-driven, dependable, and honest
- Experience with motion graphics is a plus but not required
- Highly organized
