Blair Fire Protection , an industry leader in fire prevention and protection, is seeking an experienced Design Manager with strong knowledge of fire codes to lead its team in designing a variety of fire sprinkler systems. This individual will secure project success with exceptional designs and assist the sales and field technician teams. What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead a team of designers, including training, reviewing plans, and managing the design department schedule; assigning projects matched to designers' abilities.
• Identify training needs for the team; recommend or develop a program to fulfill gaps in skills and knowledge.
• Define performance expectations, measure, evaluate, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews for designers.
• Play a key role in the hiring process of new designers.
• Balance the needs of general contractors, architects, and local authorities to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Design a variety of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes within the scope of the project using MEPCAD AutoSprink software.
• Explore value-engineering ideas to meet the overall project budget.
• Perform and review hydraulic calculations following specifications for the jobs.
• Assist with project management ensuring project specifications and correct materials are provided for jobs.
• Conduct on-site field surveys at current construction sites.
• Create final close-out documents, including Operations and Maintenance manual presentation and as-built drawings.
• Engage in continued professional development; stay on top of industry trends with respect to current codes and other trends in the industry by attending training sessions and seminars.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of fire sprinkler design experience, or a combination of design and field technician work experience, is preferred.
• Computer proficiency with MS Office programs and a willingness to learn AutoSprink, Revit, Navis w orks, AutoCAD is required.
• AutoSprink by MEPCAD experience is a plus but not required. We train!
