Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: This is a full-time position with a salary range of $80,000 to $85,000 plus a stock bonus. The base salary range represents the anticipated range for this position and varies based on candidate's skills, experience, education, and performance.

What’s a typical day as an Associate Scientist I? You’ll be:
Developing and optimizing microbial and bacterial assays to support therapeutic objectives.
Performing tissue-culture models of bacterial infection and working with BSL-2 microorganisms.
Screening large sets of molecules across various microbial panels using dPCR, immunofluorescence-based microscopy, and MIC assays.
Following established protocols and developing new protocols as needed in microbiology, molecular biology, and protein biochemistry.
Handling, tracking, and managing BSL-2 materials safely.
Utilizing bioinformatics tools, particularly Biopython, for sequence analysis and data interpretation.
Providing effective communication and coordination with the research and production scientists.
Dedicating 10% of your time to supporting lab operations (maintenance, clean-up).
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
Have a BA/BS degree in microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field with 2-5 years of laboratory experience, or an MS/MSc degree in related fields with 0-2 years of laboratory experience.
Are proficient in handling and tracking BSL-2 microorganisms.
Are skilled in microbial and bacterial assay development, optimization, and validation.
Have a strong background in molecular biology, including DNA isolation and qPCR or dPCR.
Are competent in tissue culture growth of mammalian cells and knowledgeable in immunofluorescence microscopy.
Have experience with bioinformatics tools, particularly Biopython (preferred but not required).
Possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Engage effectively in experimental design, troubleshooting, data analysis, and data interpretation.
Are a self-starter, able to contribute effectively in a fast-changing environment.
Can work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrate high integrity and ethics.
Show commitment to quality and timely delivery of results.
Respect laboratory safety policies and practices.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time (2 or more hours).
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Perform delicate manual procedures in the laboratory.
